As part of the co-ordinated Community Response to Covid-19, Kirklees Council and our partners have been hosting regular Zoom video conferences to support local aid groups.
Here’s what’s happened so far…
Week beginning 4th May
Tuesday 5th May

Regular Check-in and co-learning space (action planning special)
This session is open for all admins of mutual aid and hyperlocal groups to join. There will be open space for questions, and a particular focus on how we can help foster good neighbourliness in the future. This session will be attended by officers from Kirklees Council who will listen deeply to what is going on and continue to reply in full by email before the next call.

Training opportunity – how to host good online meetings using Skype and Zoom.
Great if you are communicating with your groups online, and some helpful tips and tricks to helping people connect with each other on a human level even though they are physically distant.

This is a hosted learning space to address a specific need identified in our previous calls. We’ll be focussing on how to share the story of the great work happening in our neighbourhoods right now.

Thursday 30th April

Wellbeing check-in, with Susanna, the Open Ears coordinator.
A facilitated co-learning space for us to share what has been helping us stay well this week. How is it going for the other volunteers working with us? Are we noticing anything folks need support with and can what are we learning which is supporting sustainability in wellbeing?

There will be open space for questions, and a particular focus on safeguarding will be invited one week on from receiving the training last Tuesday – what have you kept the same and what have you chosen to do differently? This session will be attended by officers from Kirklees Council who will listen deeply to what is going on and continue to reply in full by email before the next call.
Wednesday 22nd April
5pm (up to 90 mins)
How to foster neighbourliness, and support those experiencing loneliness and poverty.
This is a hosted learning space to address a specific need identified in our previous calls. The previous Wednesday was a focus on money and wise practices around money and infection control, this one focussed around neighbourliness and building the legacy of this amazing effort we have all been working towards for the last month and a half.

Thursday 23rd April

Regular Check-in space open for all admins of mutual aid and hyperlocal groups to join. This will be attended by officers from Kirklees Council and there will also be time for participants to share their questions around safeguarding specific issues.
Wednesday 15th April
5pm (up to 90 mins)
Hosted Learning space sharing best practices around the handling of money and payments. What is working, what could be improved and what do we need to keep things safe and streamlined? How do we manage trust and use wise practices to help us get the job done easily, whilst also minimising risk of infection and having trustworthy procedures which help us reduce opportunities for scammers?
Thursday 16th April

Wellbeing check-in
Fun and light-hearted introduction with music, before moving into a Co-Learning space for us to share our practices for keeping ourselves well and also maintaining the wellbeing of our volunteers. Making sure we are nurturing those who are nurturing others.

What apps and technology are making our job easier? Sharing space – let us know what is working for you and making the day to day tasks of supporting your community during Covid-19 easier and safer, or just more fun.
How to take part
You should be able to take part in our Zoom conference calls on a smart phone, tablet or computer. In order to avoid overloading these conference calls we’re asking that only leading organisers in your group dial in to our Check-ins. All groups on our contact list have received the Zoom link.
